Burnham-on-Crouch, United Kingdom

£38,500

'Redemption Song' is a Sealion 36 was built in Holland by C.H.Hitters and fitted out by J.G Meeks of Marlow circa 1966. These increasingly rare vessels are becoming highly sought-after thanks to their classic lines, spacious accommodation, and versatile nature. Although a recent survey has highlighted various ongoing maintenance points she has been well maintained and updated during in recent years, including new Perkins engines in 2009 and a significant refit in 2016/17. Ideal for a practically minded owner willing to tackle some work themselves, early viewing is advised as diesel powered cruisers suitable for liveaboard coastal and river use of this size and quality are rarely available!

Construction

The Sea Lion 36 was built in 1966 in Holland by CH Hitters and professionally fitted out by J.G Meeks of Marlow circa 1966 to their own design. Blue painted steel displacement hull with styling stripes (topsides painted in 2020, new antifoul in July 2021). Steel painted non-slip decks. Sheathed plywood cabin and wheelhouse roofs. Brass/bronze framed windows. Bronze P-brackets and propellers. Hydraulic wheel steering to twin rudders.

An extensive refit was carried out by International Boatbuilding Training College, Lowestoft between 2016/17 including gas system overhaul, replating of the hull where required, below waterline epoxy coated, together with internal upgrades and a complete rebuild of the cabin and wheelhouse roof in GRP sheathed marine plywood and West epoxy system.

A recent survey which declared her to be in good condition for her age has uncovered a number of maintenance works which should be attended to, and so her owner has reduced the price to help towards these. Most of these works could be tackled by a practical owner, and are expected with this style of construction, further information can be provided on request.
