Accommodation

The traditional layout offers upto 5 berths. Up forward is the double V berth with storage underneath and deck opening hatch. The heads comes next, aft of the double berth, with a chemical toilet with a 21 litre holding capacity. Hanging locker opposite to port.

In the saloon there are two single settee berths either side of a folding table. Good storage in and around the saloon. In the port quarter is the L shaped galley with twin sinks, 2 burner gas cooker with grill. Coolbox. Electrically pumped water supply. 125 litre water capacity in two tanks (25l + 100l each).

In the starboard quarter, is the aft facing chart table with switch panel. Single quarter berth behind.

Mechanical Systems

Located under the companionway stairs is the Buhk diesel engine. Single cyclinder, 10 hp, seawater cooled, shaft driven to a folding 2 bladed propellor. Single lever control. 60 litre fuel capacity in a plastic tank. Regularly serviced by owners.

Construction

The Achilles 840 was built in 1982 by Achilles Yachts Ltd to a design of Chris Butler. Creme GRP hull with a cast iron fin keel. Skeg hung rudder. The creme deck is GRP with a balsa core & moulded non-slip.. Tiller steering. New cabin windows in 2019.
