Ariel is a classic gaff cutter designed by Albert Strange and built to a high traditional standard by Anderson, Rigden & Perkins in 1925. She is a fine example of these gorgeous cruising yachts, combining classic lines with a well-balanced sail plan and capable sea performance. Ariel has benefitted from continuous care and appropriate upgrades to ensure reliability and comfort without compromising her original character. Accommodation
Offering up to 3 berths in an tradition interior. Up forward in the forepeak, there is a single berth to port, stowage under and deck opening hatch. To centre there is a Jabsco manual marine toilet with a cover over the toilet. Stepping into saloon, there is are two single settee berths to port and starboard. Removeable saloon table to centre with double drop leaves. Good stowage in the saloon provided by lockers and shelving. In the port quarter, is the compact linear galley with a stainless-steel sink, manually pumped freshwater supply, Flavel Vanessa two-burner gas cooker with an oven and grill. Top opening refrigerator. Opposite to starboard is the chart table with the electrical distribution panel, navigation equipment and chart stowage. Green upholstery throughout. Eberspacher diesel fired cabin heater.
Mechanical Systems
Located behind the companionway stairs is there the Beta Marine diesel engine, fitted new in 1999. 20hp, three cylinders, naturally aspirated. Freshwater cooled via a heat exchanger. Single lever controls. Electric start. Shaft drive to a feathering three blade bronze propeller. Regularly serviced.

Built by Anderson, Rigden & Perkins in 1925 to a design of Albert Strange. Painted white Pitch Pine carvel hull. Oak frames. Long keel with a cast iron ballast. Lead ingots. Tiller steering to a keel hung rudder. Plywood decks with a painted non-slip finish. Solid varnish coachroof, cockpit coaming and cockpit grating. Teak toerail. Last surveyed in 2025 with a copy available upon request.
