Description

This 1971 S&S 30 is a beautifully proportioned classic cruiser-racer, widely admired for its classic styling and exceptional sailing performance. Designed by the world-renowned Sparkman & Stephens, she offers a rewarding and well-balanced experience under sail, with impressive offshore capability, responsive handling, and a comfortable motion at sea.

Sea Beagle has been in her current ownership for the past 22 years, venturing to France, Belgium, and the Netherlands; before that, she was owned by one of the original builders of BYH, who held her in high regard.

A great boat suited to coastal passages, club racing, or relaxed weekends afloat. A true sailing classic, the S&S 30 remains one of the most admired designs of her era.

The accommodation offers up to five berths across two cabins. V-berth forward with infill. Aft of the forepeak, behind a folding door, is the heads compartment, featuring a Jabsco marine toilet to port and a stainless-steel wash basin with hand-pumped cold water supply, vanity unit and storage to starboard.

The saloon is bright and comfortable, with large settee berths to both port and starboard finished in attractive teal upholstery. Centrally located is a removable folding saloon table with integrated glass holders, positioned above the engine box to allow convenient engine access when required. A traditional gimballed oil lamp is mounted on the mast track which provides heating to the cabin.

Moving aft, a generously sized chart table with storage beneath provides an ideal navigation station, while a useful pilot berth is located aft of the chart table.

To starboard, the practical galley is fitted with a Nelson cooker with two LPG burners, oven and grill, a stainless-steel sink supplied by two 50 litre freshwater tanks via a hand pump, a cool box, generous cupboard storage, and dedicated plate racks, providing all the essentials for comfortable cruising.

Mechanical Systems

Located amidships beneath the saloon table, the Beta Marine 16hp twin-cylinder diesel engine, installed in 2010, is freshwater-cooled via a heat exchanger and provides reliable, efficient propulsion. Power is transmitted through a shaft drive to a three-bladed fixed propeller. Fuel is supplied from an 18 gallon stainless steel fuel tank. The yacht is fitted with traditional tiller steering, offering direct feedback and responsive handling under sail and power.
