Accommodation
The accommodation offers up to five berths in two cabins and has been renovated from the original specification. It is accessed from the companionway into the main saloon, with the galley situated immediately on the starboard side for convenient access while underway. The galley is fitted with a cooker (2 burners and a grill), stainless sink, fridge and useful storage for provisions and equipment custom fitted behind galley area. Aft of the galley is situated additionally another single berth. The main saloon has comfortable settee style berths to port with pockets fitted around a central dining table, with plenty of lockers beneath and behind the seating. Forward of the saloon is the separate forepeak, providing a double v-berth with storage and shelving. The heads compartment is situated aft of the saloon, with a manual marine toilet and washing facilities. Parts of the accommodation are fitted with curtains and carpet, and a Tricklicks 8Kw cabin heater with vents throughout the saloon and drying cupboard, is included. Throughout the accommodation is practical and well laid out, making excellent use of space aboard this classic 28ft cruising yacht.
Mechanical Systems
2003 BETA Marine BD722 20HP Diesel Engine, direct engine cooling, shaft drive and fixed propeller. Engine serviced annually for the past six years, last done in January 2025 including oil/diesel filters, oil change, air filter, gearbox oil, impeller check, anti-freeze check, anode checks (inc heat exchanger) and battery fluid. New gear box and linkages fitted January 2025. New starter motor and solenoid fitted January 2025.
Electrical Systems
1x 12V Domestic Battery (2025), 1x 12V Engine Start Battery (2023) and 1x 12V Windlass Battery (2010), charged via engine alternator. Shore power, solar panels and battery charger. USB Ring mains throughout the saloon and cabins. LED lighting throughout saloon and V-berth.
Sails and Spars
Masthead rigged Bermudan sloop. Single spreader, alloy deck stepped mast and alloy boom. Stainless steel standing rigging. Terylene running rigging and Lazyjacks. 2x Antal self-tailing sheet winches, 2x Lewmar self-tailing halyard winches and 1x additional lewmar winch. Mast stepped and standing rigging all renewed in 2006.

Construction
Southerly 28 built in 1975 by Northsore Yachts Ltd. to a design by John Bennett. Black painted GRP hull with with white sheer stripe. Hull, superstructure and interior base modules are heavy duty GRP mouldings with moulded non-slip deck finish. Rubbing strake and other external features in wood. Hull below waterline is newly primed ready to be anti-fouled. 1.3 tons of iron ballast is fitted into keel area and glassed over. The centreplate case is an integral part of the hull moulding. Transom hung rudder with wheel steering. Cockpit is integral with Deck moulding with stowage lockers and engine access hatch, with removable wooden cockpit table. Stowage for gas bottles with overboard drain. Stowage in cockpit coaming. Lifting keel and hull overhauled in 2006.
Time and care has been given to ensure the boat is kept in good condition, including constant improvements made to the interior and exterior features. The boat is presented in a notably good condition and is a fantastic example of a 1975 Southerly 28.
