The Vertue is one of the most respected small offshore cruising yachts ever designed, renowned for its seaworthiness, traditional lines and proven passage making capabilities. Vertue Voyager is a particularly interesting example, being believed to be the first GRP-built Vertue II produced and constructed as a showcase boat with an exceptionally high standard of finish throughout. Unlike many later production boats, she features a superb full teak interior, demonstrating the quality of craftsmanship that went into her build. Accommodation

Three berths across the forecabin and saloon. Approximately 1.80m (5ft 11in) maximum headroom. Forecabin features a single V-berth with useful stowage beneath and shelving outboard. Manual marine toilet to starboard. Moving aft into the main saloon, there are settee berths to port and starboard providing comfortable seating and additional sleeping accommodation. A table can be mounted centrally when required. There is plentiful locker and shelf stowage throughout the saloon, all finished in varnished teak. The galley is positioned aft to port and is equipped with a two-burner alcohol cooker and sink with manually pumped fresh water supplied from a 75-litre water tank. Storage is provided for galley equipment and provisions. The companionway leads to the deep, secure cockpit which offers good protection for offshore sailing. The cockpit benefits from a sprayhood and retains the traditional feel expected of a yacht of this type whilst remaining practical for cruising. The quality and extent of the teak interior is a particular feature of Vertue Voyager, reflecting her origins as a showcase vessel and setting her apart from many other examples.

Mechanical Systems

Located beneath the companionway ? Yanmar 2GM20. Two-cylinder, diesel engine producing 16hp. Installed 1990, shaft drive to three bladed fixed propellor. Single fuel tank approximately 75litres. Annual engine serving with a major overhaul in 2023 including new stainless steel exhaust manifold along with anodes and impeller. Approximately 1100 engine hours.

Masthead Sloop rig, deck-stepped alloy mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging, terylene running rigging. Slab reefing mainsail, headsail roller reefing system. 3x Lewmar 16ST Self tailing winches, 2x Lewmar 7 single speed winches, 2x Mast winches.

Construction

Built in 1978 by Bossoms Boat Yard, to a Laurent Giles design. GRP hull, deck and superstructure with white gelcoat finish and painted non-slip deck surfaces. Long keel configuration with keel-hung rudder. Last antifouled in January 2026.
