The Carter 30 has a well-proven reputation for impressive and sea kindly performance, with a practical layout that offers safety and comfort at sea. ?Asuka? underwent a major refit in 2006 including new sprayhood, sail cover, upholstery and shorepower system. Further work was carried out in 2010 including new standing rigging, genoa, running rigging, and bringing the lines aft to the cockpit. Her underwater hull was West epoxied in 2001. The engine was replaced in 2014 and the cockpit floor replaced in 2016. There is a July 2021 insurance survey available. This boat is well worth viewing.

Accommodation

5 berths in 2 cabins with approx. 6ft max headroom. V-berth forward with infill to create a double. Deck hatch over. Separate heads compartment to port with Jabsco marine toilet, stainless steel washbasin and cold water shower. Saloon has an L-shaped settee to port and a single settee berth to starboard (both approx. 6ft 3in long) and a central table with two folding leaves. Folding chart table to starboard with quarter berth to the aft. Galley to port consisting of a two-burner Plastimo Neptune gas stove with grill, large cool box, microwave by chart table and stainless steel sinks with water supplied from a 75 litre freshwater tank. Upholstered in blue velour fabric in saloon and forepeak with blue vinyl in quarter berth. Blue/white striped curtains.

Mechanical Systems

2014 Volvo Penta D1-20F, three-cylinder, 20hp diesel engine located under companionway steps. Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Volvo 130S saildrive to three-blade fixed propeller. The saildrive diaphragm has been replaced recently. New Osculati fuel tank and fitting included (needs installation)

Electrical Systems

2 x 12v, 85ah batteries charged from engine alternator and Dolphin 20amp 240v automatic battery charger. Separate battery for windlass. Voltwatch battery charge indicator. 240v ring mains with three outlets and spare for future installation of an immersion heater. Interior lighting.

Sails and Spars

Masthead rigged sloop. Proctor silver anodised keel stepped, single spreader mast (new mast gaiter 2006). Z-Spars silver anodised boom (new 2006). Stainless steel standing rigging (new 2010). Terylene running rigging (new 2010). Slab reefing mainsail with Packamain mainsail cover. Rotostay headsail furling system. Spinnaker pole. 2 x Harken 40 self-tailing sheet winches (new 2010). 2 x Barlow 16 spinnaker sheet winches. 2 x Barlow halyard winches on coachroof. 2 x Barlow 16 and Barlow 23 halyard winches on mast.

Construction

Built by Teliga, Poland, in 1980 to a design by Dick Carter. White GRP hull and decks with moulded-in non-slip surfaces. Lead fin keel. Underwater hull epoxied in 2011. Tiller steering to skeg hung rudder. Teak toe rail. Self-draining cockpit with Dek-King synthetic teak covering (new 2016). Teak slats to cockpit seats.
