Description
This 1981 Gib'Sea 28, 'Moonfleet', is a well-regarded French cruiser-racer, appreciated for her robust construction, forgiving sailing characteristics and surprisingly spacious interior, making her ideally suited to comfortable coastal cruising. Her clever design offers an impressive amount of accommodation for a yacht of her size and era. Accommodation
The accommodation offers up to six berths across two cabins and the saloon. Forward, the V-berth provides a comfortable double berth with practical storage shelves to either side. Moving aft, the saloon is bright and inviting, with generous settee berths to both port and starboard, upholstered in a striped blue and white fabric. A generously sized chart table is located to port, providing a practical standing navigation and work area. The stereo system is controlled from this point also.
To port of the companionway, the C-shaped galley is well arranged for use underway and features a sink supplied by manually pumped fresh water from a 60 litre water tank. A gimballed two-burner gas cooker with grill is fitted with a folding cover, creating additional worktop space when not in use. A large cool box and ample storage lockers complete the galley.
Aft of the galley to port is a cosy pilot berth, ideal for use at sea or as additional accommodation. Opposite, to starboard of the companionway, is the heads compartment, fitted with a Jabsco manual marine toilet and wash basin with manually pumped fresh water. Thoughtfully designed hanging and storage space for wet weather gear keeps sailing equipment separate from the main area of the compartment, enhancing practicality and comfort onboard.
Mechanical Systems
1981 Yanmar YSM12 diesel engine located under the companionway steps in an insulated engine room rebuilt in January 2026. Direct raw water cooled. Shaft drive connected to a fixed two-bladed propeller with rope cutter. One stainless steel fuel tank holding approximately 54 litres of fuel.

Construction
Built by Gilbert Marine in 1981. White GRP hull and deck. Moulded non-slip deck. Stainless steel push pulpit with safety lines. Transom-hung rudder with tiller steering. Cast iron ballast stub keel with lifting centre plate.
The current owner has carried out significant upgrades to Moonfleet including a complete rewire, engine rebuild, full diesel system clean, and the fitting of new anodes.
