Description
The Westerly Regatta 290 was a modernised version of the Merlin, with a sugar scoop transom, fractional rig and much uprated and redesigned interior woodwork and layout. This example is presented in excellent condition and ready to go. She benefits from plenty of upgrades in recent years including new standing and running rigging in 2023, new stainless steel fuel tank in 2024 and a new mainsail in 2024. Her head linings were also replaced in 2024.

Accommodation
Six berths in two cabins plus the saloon. Forward cabin has a V berth, shelving, storage and forehatch. The saloon has two settee berths with unique headrests, eye level and under berth storage plus a drop leaf saloon table between. The forward-facing chart table is to starboard and has a good size table and seat, storage and instruments. The heads compartment is aft of the chart table and has a marine toilet, wash basin and shower. The L shaped galley is to port and has a Flavel Vanessa gas cooker with two burners, grill and oven. Stainless steel galley sink, plenty of eye level and under counter storage. The insulated ice box is under the starboard settee berth. The double berth aft cabin has an access door to port. This has a hanging locker and shelf storage. Lilac cloth upholstery. Hot and cold pressurised freshwater system heated via engine and 240V immersion heater.
Mechanical Systems
1993 Volvo Penta MD2020, three cylinder, 19hp marine diesel engine located under companionway. Fresh water cooled via heat exchanger. New cooling water strainer fitted 2025. Saildrive to fixed blade propeller. Single lever engine control. New 81 litre stainless steel fuel tank (new 2024). Engine serviced in Autumn 2024. The saildrive diaphragm was replaced in 2019.
Electrical Systems
Two 12V batteries in two banks charging via engine alternator. 240V shore power system with battery charger, immersion heater and ring main. LED interior lighting throughout. Gas system serviced and checked with new regulator in 2024 (certificate available)
Sails and Spars
Fractional Bermudan sloop rig. Silver anodised aluminium mast and boom by Kemp Masts, 1993. Stainless steel standing rigging (new 2023). Backstay tensioner. Terylene running rigging (new 2023). Slab reefing to mainsail with stack pack and lazyjacks. Rotostay headsail furling system (serviced 2023). Mainsheet traveller. Two Lewmar 30 self-tailing primary winches. Two Lewmar 7 coachroof control line winches.
