Designed with all control lines led aft to the cockpit and the Hunter signature self-tacking jib, the Channel 323 is very manageable for a single-hander or small crew. ?Laurel? has been in her current ownership for eight years in which time her owner has mainly cruised the East Coast but also as far as the Pembrokeshire coast. She has been wintered ashore from October to April each year in her current ownership.

Accommodation

Six berths in three cabins. V-berth forward with lockers to port and starboard. Two straight settee berths In saloon with central folding saloon table. Galley aft to starboard with Plastimo Neptune 2000 two burner gas stove with grill and oven, stainless steel sink and insulated cool box. Navigation station aft to port with separate forward facing seat and switch panel. Aft of the chart table is a separate heads compartment with marine toilet and wash basin with shower. Large aft cabin to starboard with a double berth under the cockpit floor with hanging locker. Hot and cold pressurised water supply to sink and wash basin/shower. Eberspacher diesel fired central heating. Curtains to coachroof windows.

Mechanical Systems

Yanmar 2GM20F, twin cylinder, 18hp marine diesel engine located behind companionway steps. Engine believed to be new in 2004. Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Shaft drive via P-bracket to three blade feathering propeller. Rope cutter to shaft. Electric start. Single lever Morse controls. Engine serviced every year (oils/filters etc.). Approx. 1,330 engine hours.

Electrical Systems

2 x 12v domestic batteries (all new April 2026). Single 12v engine start battery (new April 2026). Single 12v independent battery for charging laptops, mobile phones & backup if required. Batteries charged via engine alternator. 240v shore power system with Merlin Poweramp 30amp battery charger, ring main and immersion heater. Interior lighting. Solar panel.

Sails and Spars

Fractionally rigged sloop. Silver anodised, single spreader mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging (original). Slab reefing mainsail with lazyjacks. Headsail furling system. Self-tacking jib. 2 x Antal W30 self-tailing sheet winches.

Construction

Hunter Channel 323 moulded by Hunter Boats, Essex in 1998. Completed by her first owner and believed to have been first launched in 2004. Sail number 57. White GRP hull and decks with moulded-in non-slip decks. Cast iron twin bilge keels. Tiller steering to spade hung rudder. Self-draining aft cockpit with bathing platform. Antifouled & new anodes 2026.
