The J-105, with her retractable bow sprit, has proved to be ideal for both shorthanded and fully crewed racing in inshore and offshore competitions. The simple layout also lends itself to fast cruising. 'Slingshot? has been successfully raced locally on the East Coast by her current owners, including winning the prestigious Burnham Town Cup in 2025 with her 2025 IRC rating of 0.996. She benefits from recent racing sails and electronics upgrades. In the past she has been one of the most successful J-105's around with a long list of honours both sailing double-handed and fully crewed. RORC Yacht of the Year in 2006, 2008 RORC Double-handed series and 4th overall against all the IRC fully crewed boats. Overall winner Yachting Monthly Torbay Triangle Race in 2012.
