Firebird is a particularly impressive example of the Maxi 1000. They have long enjoyed a reputation as one of the most capable and practical Scandinavian cruising yachts in their class. Combining rewarding sailing performance with comfortable accommodation and excellent build quality, Firebird offers an appealing blend of offshore capability and cruising comfort.
Built in 2001, one of the last Maxi 1000's built, and in her present ownership since 2016, she has benefited from an extensive and ongoing programme of maintenance, upgrades and renewal. The level of investment made over recent years is immediately apparent, with many of the major systems having been replaced, refurbished or upgraded within the last twelve months. Highlights include a complete new saildrive unit, folding propeller and rope cutter in 2026, new standing rigging in 2025, and a professional LiFePO4 domestic battery installation.
Firebird stands out from many yachts of a similar age thanks to the extensive investment made by her current owners. Rather than simply maintaining the boat, they have systematically upgraded and renewed major systems and equipment, with a remarkable amount of expenditure incurred during 2024-2026. The result is a yacht that feels exceptionally well sorted, presenting a rare opportunity to acquire a genuinely turnkey cruising boat with many of the typical big-ticket maintenance items already addressed.
